Register of Associates (Counsellors/Psychotherapists) (Self-Employed)

Rural Support is always interested in speaking to suitably qualified mental health counsellors and psychotherapists to join its Register of Associates, on a self-employed basis, to assist in the delivery of its aims and objectives through several existing programmes and other emerging projects.

The work is varied and will involve working closely with the staff at Rural Support together with the wider Farm Support Associate and Volunteer team.

This role will include:

  • Travelling to clients’ homes and providing community based counselling. 
  • Working with farm families who are in crisis be that due to a farm accident, financial pressures, bereavement, or trauma to help them to work through the crisis and move forward.

Associates should have some knowledge of rural stress issues and the impacts of stress and have a proven ability to effectively work within a team to support each other and reach optimum results for our farmers and farming families. Training will be provided in relation to agricultural knowledge.

Associates should have at least a level 4 recognised qualification and all qualification hours completed. Associates must be a member of a counselling/psychotherapy organisation, (e.g., BACP, BABCP, IACP, NCPS or equivalent) and must have on-going supervision arrangements in place in accordance with BACP, BABCP, IACP, NCPS or equivalent Code of Ethics. 

We are particularly interested in associates in the following areas:

  • North Fermanagh
  • West Tyrone
  • North West
  • Mid Ulster
  • Armagh
  • South Down

Register of Associates (Self-Employed)

Rural Support is always interested in speaking to suitably qualified and agri-sector experienced people to join its Register of Associates, on a self-employed basis, to assist in the delivery of its aims and objectives through several existing programmes and other emerging projects.

The work is varied and will involve working closely with the staff at Rural Support together with the wider Associate and Volunteer team.

This role may include:

  • Proactively working with farming families as they forward plan for the business, the family and succession

  • Assistance with delivery of small group workshops within the agri-community.

  • One-to-one on farm business mentoring or providing counselling expertise.

  • Working with farm families who are in crisis be that due to farm accident, financial pressures, bereavement, or other factors, helping them to work through the crisis and move forward.

  • Representing and promoting Rural Support at Agri-sector events and other events.

Associates should have an excellent knowledge of the Northern Ireland Agri-sector together with a clear understanding of the technical, economic, and social issues facing farming families and be able to demonstrate empathy for farming and rural communities and be willing to promote positive mental health and wellbeing among target groups.

They should also have specific knowledge of rural stress issues and the impacts of stress and have a proven ability to effectively work within a team to support each other and reach optimum results for our farmers and farming families.
