Roy joined Rural Support in 2013.  Roy has farmed for over 40 years on holdings ranging from 20-100 hectares with experience in dairy, sheep, crops, pigs and poultry and facing several issues himself.  Roy still actively farms including a farm diversification project.

Roy was a member of the YFCU until the age of 25 and represented NI at international stock judging events.  He has been a member of the UFU for 40 years and currently represents Ballyclare UFU Group on the Central UFU Rural Development Committee.  Roy is the Founding and Current Director of Ollardale Ltd (a farmers’ co-operative with 120 members) and is the current Director of Associated Farming Groups (an umbrella organisation which is made up of representatives from 8 buying groups with approximately 450 members).

Roy enjoys promoting the organisation through outreach and presentations. He also enjoys home visits and being able to signpost clients to other relevant organisations who may also be able to help.
