Outreach

Claire joined Rural Support as a volunteer in 2013.  Claire is from a farming background and she currently helps out with the paperwork and administration aspects regarding the farm business.  She also helps out practically around the farm.  She has a good understanding and knowledge of farming and rural issues.  Claire worked on a Work Track Scheme, a government funded scheme which unemployed individuals find employment.  She also worked in the Northern Bank during its transition to Danske Bank.  Claire is currently Chair of a rural cross-community ladies group – East Antrim Ladies Farm Forum which was set up in 1985 with Claire joining in 1992.

Claire enjoys talking to rural people about rural issues when attending events on behalf of Rural Support.  She finds that volunteering with Rural Support links in well with her role in East Antrim Ladies Farm Forum and vice-versa in terms of issues, the social aspect and as an outlet.
